There is no doubt that it will bring about great impact on the agriculture ofChina to join WTO. The author conducted researches on the influence ofjoining WTO on the agriculture of China and on its countermeasure as well inorder to contribute to internationalize the agriculture of China.This thesis presents the following:1. The basic principle of the accession of WTO for China agriculture roots inagricultural agreements of the Uruguay Round, including market accession,domestic support, and export subsidies, etc.;2. The favorable inflence of joining WTO on China agriculture lies increating better conditions for our agricultural production, promotingagricultural interest, adjusting the industrial structure of agriculture, anddeepening the reform of the rural economic system;3. The disadvantages of the accession of WTO are mainly from the pressureon the market of the agriculture products with the opening to the outside, andalso from the great impacts on different fields of agriculture;4. Relative countermeasure after being a contracting member of WTO:(1) Conduct further research on the impact of joining WTO on ouragriculture;(2) Adjust the industrial structure of agriculture and realize strategictransfer of agriculture development;(3) Switch to international management in agriculture;(4) Regularize agricultural policy;(5) Enhance suburbanization of countryside for the development of tertiaryindustry;(6) Implement scientific strategy for agricultural development.On the the theoretical basis of political economy and international trade, throughutilizing the combination of positive and normal, quantitive and qualitiveanalysis, the paper discusses the influence of joining WTO on the agriculture ofour country, and proposes specific countermeasure.
