As an important part of the great development of western areas, Chongqing has the responsibility to play a great role in this strategy. So the current developing conditions of Chongqing economy has a great significance to the development of western areas. Therefore, it is of great significance to focus on the development of Chongqing and research the current conditions of Chongqing city infrastructure. Beginning with the traditional implications, components and functions of city infrastructure, the first part of this dissertation, which includes five parts, recognizes the nature, the operating model and the financing system. Based on the first part, from the statistics data and t~ica1 material of Chongqing, the second one of the article states objectively the actual situations of several aspects of Chongqing city infrastructure, and compare with other excellent cities in our country, which express the position and the developing level of Chongqing in the infrastructure among the whole country. At the same time, the article also analyzes the existing problems of city infrastructure in government control, market and the system of investment and financing according to the actual conditions of Chongqing. Based on drawing adequately lessons from the practical experiences in infrastructure of national and international developed cities in chapter three, the fourth part of the dissertation analyzes the aims sYstem of development of Chongqing city infrasni.icture on the conditions of the entry of WTQ, the great development of western areas and the planning of the tenth five-year period. Some suggestions are provided in the end of the article from three aspects.
