Since the income of Chinese farmers declined for years in succession, to increase the farmers'income has become the focus of public discussion .It is also the cardinal starting point of agriculture and agricultural economy, because it is linked not only to the development and stability of agriculture and of the countryside and the improvement of farmers'living standard, but also to the overall development of our national economy. Under this background, it seems urgent to study the problem of how to increase the income of farmers in our country. This paper reviews the development and changes of the income of Chinese farmers after the founding of the People's Republic which are divided into two developing stages: from the founding of our People's Republic to 1978 and from the opening-up in 1979 to date. The later stage is divided into another five stages: the stage of growth at a high speed from 1979 to 1984^ the stage of growth decelerating from 1985 to 1988,the stags of growth resitating from 1989 to 1991,the stags of growth resuming from 1992 to 1996,another stage of growth decelerating from 1997 to date,This paper analyzes the present situation of growth decelerating of the income of farmers in our country and widening gap between town and country by giving a series of full and accurate statistical data and by combining theoretical analysis with case analysis and historical analysis with logical analysis, and hence comes to the initial conclusion that there are a few major factors that affect the growth of the income of farmers in our country. .They are price> quality^ cost> scale> burden township enterprise^ macroeconomic circumstances and policy . Finally,it proposes some countermeasures on how to increase the farmers'income in order to attain the developing goal of rural economy of our country and the national economy .Postgraduate: MaHai-Xia Major: Agricultural Economic Management Supervisor: Prof. Guo Xiang-yu...
