A Study On The Construction Of Ecotourism County In ZiYuan County,GuiLin, Guangxi

The rapid development of modern times tourism after World War n,especially during the sixties to eighties of the 20"' century, made it impossible for man to think more about the methods of developing tour industry. People think that tour industry is some kind of easy_done , "non_smoky" industry, with less investment and better economic results. But the fact that the environments are getting worse gives us a caution that tour industry must go in a lasting way. Therefore at the end of the 20"' century, ecotourism accompanying the Green Weave of protecting man' s living conditions, came out.Ecotourism modifies common tourists the wrong knowledge about resources and environment .The purport of protecting make it possible for tour industry to develop everlastingly. Therefore, it had made a great reflection around the world when ecotourism was put forward, and it soon becomes a fashion of touring. Ecotourism also represents the direction of tourism in the 21"' century. Ecotourism has been investigated by people all over the world since 1983. They examine its every side in different ways, trying to find out the ways to develop it. But by now, many of the researches are theoretical, practical researches are comparatively short. Ecotourism academic thesis about a county has not yet been found.The thesis deliberated the theory and methods to establish an ecotourism county by the example of ZhiYuan county, a small beautiful county 107 km away from Guilin, the world' s famous tour city. The aim is to put ecotourism theory into practice. The thesis chose a county as the scope to study ecotourism because the author thinks that county government in China is the joint of all policies. It is also the link for the government to link the common people. Policies and measures made by a county government are easily to be carried out. Thus the study is significant both in theory and in practice.The study began in autumn in 2000, and lasted for more than one year. The major processes of study are: the investigation of principal conditions, the collecting of the related literature, the analysis of all information. Through analysis and study, the author forms the thesis and ways to establish an ecotourism county. In the author's opinion, ZhiYuancounty is rich in forest ecotourism resources; tour industry has been taking an important part in the county's economic and social development. But at the same time, tour industry produces negative influence to the county, such as water pollution, white pollution and so on. Therefore, ZhiYuan county should establish an Ecotourism County using the excellent forest ecotourism resources and the favorable position. The thesis gives out five targets to establish an ecotourism county: rich and colorful ecotourism resources; favorable position; better basic facilities; certain economic foundations and the zeal for local people to develop tour industry. The author also puts forward five standards to establish an ecotourism county: (1)it has worked out a plant of developing ecotourism; (2)it has got perfect tour facilities; (3)it has got notable economic results (4)people in the county has got an strong wishes to keep the good environment; (5)the social environment remains stable, and the people' s complex quality are getting higher. Moreover according to the actual conditions, the author advances the guiding ideology, the construction goal, the theme image, the objective tourist market and the distribution of tour development and construction. At last the author puts forward six measures to set up an ecotourism county: (1)to deepen the people' s understanding; (2)to make a high grade ecotourism project; (3) to set up some excellent ecotourism products; (4)to train more talented person in government and services in tourism department; (5)to set up a special scenic mountainous DanXia city by Zi River; (6)to educate all the people to love and protect their environment.
