The Progressive Tendency Of The Industrial Cooperation Of The Cross-straits

Since the reforming and opening policy was adopted by the mainland of China in 1970s, the cross-straits economic and trade exchanges which had been suspended about 30 years restarted. Under the strategic structure of "peaceful reunification and one country, two systems", it will not only benefit the promotion of the exchanges and the mutual trust between two sides of the Strait and strengthen the Taiwan compatriots' recognition to the mainland , but also help to narrow the gap between the economy of two sides, to reinforce the reliance of the cross-straits trade and to lay a solid economic foundation of the great cause of peaceful reunification, by accelerating the industrial cooperation of the cross-straits and establishing the mutual complementarities and division of labor system by mutual communication and coordination. At the same time, the joint development of the cross-straits industry has a significant effect on the development of the Asian and global economy. This article is based on the great background of Globalization and the fact that both sides are going to enter WTO successively. It reveals that the mutual complementarities of the cross-straits industry are the precondition and foundation of the industrial cooperation of the cross-straits on the base of reviewing and summarizing the history, the current situation and the characteristics of the industrial cooperation of the cross-straits. It enumerates the beneficial factors which facilitate the industrial cooperation of the cross-straits, including the geographic and cultural advantages of two sides and the encouraging policies issued by the central government for those Taiwan businessmen. It also analyses the negative effects such as the restraint policies adopted by the Taiwan authority, the competition by two sides in domestic and international markets and the attraction to the Taiwanese capital from the SEATO. What's more, this article inquires into the progressive tendency of the future industrial cooperation of the cross-straits by analyzing three aspects as follows: the aim of the cooperation, the three degrees of the cooperation and the progressive processes of the cooperation. And on the base of all the above, the article gives advices for further developments of the industrial cooperation of the cross-straits in details.
