Business Strategic Analysis For Maoming Ethylene Company

Maoming Petrochemical & Ethylene Corp. (called Maoming Ethylene Corp. below),formerly known as the operation centers of Maoming 300,000-ton ethylene project,was founded at January 1st,1997. Maoming 300,000-ton ethylene project was one of the key development projects during the 8th 5-year National plan. Its total investment was 15 billion RMB at that time.After China joined WTO,Maoming Ethylene Corp. gets more opportunities. But in the mean time,it also faces more challenge. The old competitors are now expending and acquiring new equipment,and several other new ethylene projects also started with foreign investments. The goal of this paper is to analysis the company's survivor environment inside out and come out with a desired strategy for the company's future development using SWOT theory.Chapter 1. Introduction to the current ethylene industries and analysis of the market of ethylene and ethylene products around the world. Also analysis how it affects Chinese ethylene industries after China joined WTO. Currently ethylene and ethylene products are beyond the demand in other countries,China is the only country that still has a lot of demands. Ethylene manufacturing capacity in China can only satisfy half of the demands. After China joins WTO,we have to look at the cost-effective,market ratio and investment risk of ethylene industry from different aspects. This paper will find out the new opportunities and competitions that Maoming Ethylene Corp. will face.Chapter 2. Analysis the company's current situations from the following four aspects:employees,technology,sales and finance. List the superior and inferior points that currently reside in the company.Chapter 3. Utilize of SWOT theory to provide strategy of expansion for Maoming Ethylene Corp.,define a clear expansion goal(from 380,000-ton to 800,000-ton),analysis the necessity of this expansion strategy,and list the implementation detail for this strategy.
