With the wave of globalization and liberalism in the air-transport industry and the necessity of 'open-sky' after China's entry to WTO, the competition in the airport industry has become fiercer and fiercer under higher pressure of survival. However, Strategic Alliance is proved to be an effective development strategy for the airports, through which they can share resource, gain complementary advantage, circumvent risks and increase competitive power. This dissertation focuses the studies on the case of GBIA and point out that it should build up a Strategic Alliance with airports, transport stations, airlines and other industries in order to reach its strategic goal of HUB.This paper consists of six parts.Part I: Preface.Part II: A summary of the theory of corporate strategic alliance. This part explains the background of the emergence of Strategic Alliance, its concepts, characteristics, dynamic causes, types, the criteria for choosing partners, and the competition and cooperation relationship concerned.Part III: Outline of China's civil aviation airport industry. This part focuses on the current situation of civil aviation of China and airport operation. With the comparison of the development of the industry in China and in the developed countries, the current trends in the world and the influential elements on the future development of China's airport industry, I consider that Chinese airports should launch the project of Strategic Alliance and construct a HUB.Part IV: Outline of the development of GBIA. Here I present the current situation of the airport and the ongoing building of its new airport, and analyze the position it obtains in the structure of the industry and its internal and external environment in terms of strategic management theory.Part V: Studies of the GBIA's Strategic Alliance operation. In this part, I examine the theory of strategic alliance in the case of GBIA and indicate that the airport should build up a development project consisting of a horizontal alliance with other airports and transport stations, a vertical alliance with airlines and a compound alliance with other industries.Part VI: Conclusion.0...
