Along with the development of economy globalization and acceleration of information construction, market requirements become more variable, customer needs become more diversified, resulting in product life cycle shortening. These characteristics make enterprises in traditional model can't adapt the new environment well. Business informatization is one of effective ways that can improve competitive ability of modern companies. Manufacturing Resources Planning (MRPII) and Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) are important methods of management informatization and offspring of advanced management thought and computer technology.The dissertation first analyzes opportunities and challenges which Chinese manufacturing enterprises are facing in both macroscopic and microcosmic views, then points out that ERP is an effective tool promoting business managing. On the basis of introduction theories of ERP and its history, the paper discusses application status quo of ERP in domestic enterprises, and analyzes problems and success existed in the application process of ERP.At present, we haven't established standard performance appraising criteria of MRPII/ERP application. In order to evaluating objectively application performance of MRPII/ERP, the paper puts forward a synthetic appraising index system and a model based on comparing APICS's "ABCD Checking List" and SPICS's "Assessing on Application of MRPII", combining application situation of ERP in Chinese businesses. The author hopes that the system can help domestic enterprises appraise application performance of MRPII/ERP comprehensively and scientifically.
