A Research Into Deng Xiaoping's Theory Of Political And Ideological Education In The New Era

Political and Ideological Education is a political advantage and good tradition of the Communist Party of China(CPC). In 1955, as comrade Mao Zedong pointed out in the Preface to the Socialist Climax in the Chinese Countryside: "Politics is the lifeline of economy." In September 1985. when mentioning the fine tradition of the political and ideological education. Deng Xiaoping said at a National Representatives' Meeting of the CPC: "Whether in the past, at present or in the future, this is our advantage." In November 1999. the Central Committee of the CPC. in a document of A Few Opinions on Promoting the Political and Ideological Education, pointed out that it has been a good tradition and political advantage for the Party to highly emphasize the political and ideological education. A research into the theory of the Party's political and ideological education, especially that of the Party leaders of three generations with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin as a core respectively, is of a great realistic and long-term significance in the utilization of the advantage.This paper is entitled A Research into Deng Xiaoping's Theory of Political and Ideological Education in, which is determined by the significance and reality of the theory. As the research of the theory is already quite deep, the point is to trace the origin of the theory and push it forward. We should trace the origin of the theory for it has been anteceded by Mao Zedong's theory of political and ideological education. We should push it forward for the Party leaders of the third generation have been anteceded by and developed the theory. Both the trace of the origin and the development of the theory is an unavoidable issue in the deepening of the research. In the three chapters of the paper, the author exerts all his efforts to have some breakthroughs on the two sides.Chapter I Foundations of Deng Xiaoping's theory of political and ideological education. The author analyzes the formation of the theory in terms of its theory origin, philosophical base and practice foundation, with a conclusion that Deng Xiaoping's theory has been anteceded by Mao Zedong's theory, with a matter-of-fact attitude and a permeance of historical materialism and materialist dialectics. The practice of political and ideological education from the establishment of the CPC until the Third Central Committee Meeting of the Eleventh Plenary Central Committee of the CPC is a historical precedent condition; the practice since the Reform and Open Policy is a realistic factor; and Deng Xiaoping's own practice of political and ideological education is also an very important condition.Chapter II The main content of Deng Xiaoping's theory of political and ideological education in the new era. Based on a careful understanding of A Selection of Deng Xiaoping, the author fully states that Deng Xiaoping's theoretical contribution to the theory of political and ideological education in terms of its guiding ideologies, roles and functions, basic principles, main content and methodologies. The author verifies that comrade Deng Xiaoping enriches and develops the theory of political and ideological education in the new era.Chapter III The features of Deng Xiaoping's theory. In this chapter, the authour makes a comparison between Deng Xiaoping's theory of political and ideological education with that of Mao Zedong and convincingly verifies not only that they have things in common such as popularity among the mass, comprehensiveness, integrity, and practicality, but also that Deng Xiaoping's theory shows a strong epochality, intense system, obvious practicality and scientific innovativeness. Therefore, the author concludes that Deng Xiaoping, in accordance with the new situations in the new era. has innovated the theory of political and ideological education of the Party.
