Since the open and reform in the 1980s, Chinese society has undergone dramatic changes, and the civil society has gradually turned from an organizational society into social organizations. The Non-government Organizations thus have played an increasing important role in such a transition. However, the administration and operation of the NGOs is far from mature in our state, let alone the ideological and political education in these groups. This situation is quite unfavorable for the NGOs' healthy development, the construction of a harmonious socialist society as well as the consolidation of the ruling status of the CPC. To amend the situation, we primarily should reinforce the theoretical research effort in the regard in order to provide a theoretical guidance for the actual practice of the ideological and political education among the NGOs.The thesis is divided into four parts on the ideological and political education conducted in the NGOs.The first part gives an introduction about the status quo of the NGOs, including its definition, nature and category as well as its development and role in China.The second part discusses the necessity and logic on conducting the ideological and political education in NGOs. This kind of education should be carried out in NGOs out of four reasons: the universality of the ideological and political education in society, the function and position of the NGOs, the important power of NGOs in building a harmonious socialist society and the inevitable task of strengthening the Party's governing capacity and enhancing its mass base. The logic lies in the aspects involving the NGOs which accept the ideological and political education, the NGOs which are also the conductor of the education and the civil society which serves as the environment for carrying out the ideological and political education.The third part is about the institutional environment and the working condition of the NGOs. The institutional environment for the NGOs is still imperfect since it confronts comparatively more restrictions than assistance, which is a detriment to the development of the NGOs. On this aspect, the thesis attaches importance to the Party building work in the NGOs and thus gives a description about the state of ideological and political education in these organizations.The fourth part is pondering on the measures about how to conduct the ideological and political education in NGOs. First of all, the intuitional environment should be improved and their space for development should be expanded so as to prepare a solid foundation for conducting the ideological and political education. The latter two parts of the chapter discuss how to give the NGOs the roles both as the ideological and political education receiver and the conductor.
