Through 15 years of trials and hardships, China entered the gate of WTO again, and became a member state of WTO on Dec. 11, 2001. Meanwhile the international economy has been struggli -ng for the declining. The world trade was very slow. The economy of China, however, has been keeping in the still strong pace. However it is too early to be blindly optimistic about the great success we have had. Instead we should be aware the fact that there is no free lunch in the world. China is a large agricultural country. Being a member of WTO is a opt unity and also a challenge for China' s agriculture. After the entry of WTO, we have lifted the restriction on our agricultural product market accordingly. As a result, it is inevitable to influence civil agriculture in a way.This essay analyzes in great detail the opportunity and challenge of China' s development of agriculture after the entry, and in the frame of WTO' " Agreement on Agriculture" the countermeasures that have to be taken to develop China' s agriculture, the strategical adjustment of agricultural industrial structure, quicken the steps of agriculture science and technology, enhance the context of science and technology of agricultural products, realize the active urbanization strategy, develop the management of industrialized agriculture actively, promote the reform of operation system of agriculture, accelerate the building of the standard system of agricultural product' s quality, andimprove the safety and sanitation level of agriculturalproduct' s quality.Because of the great challenge of global population, resource and environment, every country has paid more attention to the thought of the sustained development andsustained agricultural strategy, which has become an important subject in the new century. Undoubtedly, only by sticking to the thought can man possibly get rid of its existing crisis, which is becoming more serious. From productive practice to the legislation and perfection of the law regarding the development of agriculture, and from the protection of intellectual rights of China.' s agriculture to its sustained development, the specific and detailed countermeasures are put forward for China' s development of agriculture.
