Study On Characters Of Materials Flow In The Western China

In this article, the conception of sustainable development (short for SD) and the conception of district materials flow were introduced. The comparative ability of resources for bearing the pressure of population, the efficiency of resources utilization, the efficiency of energy utilization, the rate of resources reserves decrease, the surcharge of the resources, the resources possessed by per capita, the consumption of resources by per capita, the index of resources guarantee's degree, the gross consumption of substance, the intensity of the consumption of substance, and the productivity of substance and so on indexes for natural material resources were chose to construct a index system that could be used to tell the degree of the sustainable development for certain material flow(short for MF). The status in quo of each material industry in two representative provinces and one representative district, viz. Chongqing City, Gansu Province and District of Pan Zhihua, were introduced in brief. The status in quo of MF of the representative materials in these districts was estimated by a general method of grading the satisfaction with the index system above mentioned. Conclusions were summed up as follow: The degree of the SD of materials industry in western China represented by Chongqing City, Gansu Province and District of Pan Zhihua was low. Chongqing City was deposited comparatively abundant strontium, but short manganese. Copper, lead, zinc, nickel, gold and silver and so on materials were comparatively deposited abundant in Gansu Province, and the same for vanadium, titanium and iron in the District of Pan Zhihua. Among the material industries in Chongqing City, the degree of SD of ferrous material industry was the lowest, the degree of SD of nonferrous material industry was the highest. Among the material industries in Gansu Province, the degree of SD of ferrous material industry was the lowest, the degree of SD of metal products industry was the highest. The degree of SD of ferrous material industry in Chongqing City was higher than that in Gansu Province. In Chongqing City, the MF degree of SD of strontium was higher than that of manganese, which was in weak-sustainable-development phase (the numerical value of the SD degree was 0.57). In Gansu Province, the numerical value of the MF SD degree of copper, lead, zinc and nickel was respectively 0.57,0.57,0.49 and 0.61, the SD phase was respectively weak, weak, non and weak. As an average of these value, the representative materials in Gansu Province was in weak-sustainable-developmentphase, and the numerical value was 0.52. In the District of Pan Zhihua, the numerical value of the SD degree of MF of vanadium, titanium and iron was respectively 0.34,0.83 and 0.36, the SD phase was respectively non, approximate and non, and the SD degree of MF titanium was the highest (which was in a high phase of approximate SD). As an average, the representative material industry in the District of Pan Zhihua was in non-sustainable-development phase (the numerical value was 0.41). The main causes of a low SD phase of the western material industry were that the efficiency of resources and energy utilization and the productivity of substance in this are were in a lower level.
