| The earth is a human family. Human survival and development is totally dependent on the resource and environment of the earth, especially geographical environment. So, it is one of the main tasks of economics to study and deal with the good person- ground relation. The goal is to establish the harmonious coordination relation between mankind and environment, mankind and resource; to realize that the earth resource, especially the regenerated resources can offer the physical product to mankind constantly; to achieve mankind's fair purpose to enjoy the earth resource. But near century because of the inflation of population, the balance of the mankind, resource and environment is being broken, the result threatens human existence and development. So to probe the theory of developing continuously, to summarize the sustainable approach and experience of development are the important subjects of whole world. The earth is the whole formed by different natural region synthesizes and different social synthesizes. It is the foundation of realizing sustainable development to study regional sustainable development.This text has studied the historical origin and realistic background of the sustainable development thought; has narrated current situation and trend of domestic and international sustainable development research; has provided the definition of regional sustainable development on the foundation of analyzing constant concept; has stressed the rationality, systematicness and practicality of sustainable development; has set up the conceptual model of regional sustainable development, structured the regional sustainable development evaluation index system frame and appraise models; has studied the judge base of regional sustainable development. Finally I choose 10 districts from three regions to make samples and offer the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions to the current situations of every areas according to five major systems of regional sustainable development.
