Chinese vegetable industry has been expanding to a rather large extent and it goes on increasing, which forces it very urgent to explore the international market of Chinese vegetable. As a result promoting its competitiveness to cope with hot international competition and possess more and more foreign market has turned out to be an emergency for the Chinese vegetable industry. First of all it is necessary to find out how competitive Chinese vegetable is. The dissertation tries applying competitiveness theory as well as comparativeness theory to the positive study. Based on industrial competitiveness theory of Michael E Porter and the character of vegetable industry itself, the dissertation chooses the exporting competitiveness as the main content of research. By means of a series of indexes calculated by export data, the dissertation values the exporting competitiveness of Chinese vegetable as a whole and of its main varieties. Then on the base of Porter's theory the dissertation establishes a diamond model of Chinese vegetable and analyzees the advantageous and disadvantageous factors in forming competitiveness. At the same time the objective export markets for Chinese vegetable products are probed. After finding out how to improve the competitiveness and where to expand the market the dissertation comes to its conclusion of some pertinent suggestions.
