This thesis mainly discusses the relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and the promotion of China's Export Competitiveness, with the combination of theoretical analysis and empirical methodology. Firstly, based on Porter's Competitiveness Theory and other FDI theories such as Monopolistic Advantage Theory, it deducts the factors influencing export competitiveness and the indexes evaluating export competitiveness, and summarizes the approaches that FDI influences on export competitiveness; Secondly, it put the data in the past 20 years into the empirical analysis on the relationship between FDI and the promotion of China's export competitiveness, and analyzes the effect FDI may have on the increase of China's total export volume, the raising of the percentage China occupies in international export market, the promotion of export structure, and the improvement of the technology level of China's export commodities; Lastly, the thesis analyzes the trends of FDI in China and the problems existing in capitalizing on FDI to promote export competitiveness and hereafter put forwards some suggestions. The overall conclusion of the thesis is as follows: FDI makes great contribution to the promotion of China's export competitiveness, however, China should attach more importance to the issues concerning the sustainable development of China's export competitiveness and stipulate corresponding policies to ensure a sustainable and healthy development.
