Traditional village and town resorts (TVTR) embody their own historic, cultural value through the overall appearance and display typical style and features of a specific historic period, thus boasting of high value of historic recognition, sensibility reliance, aesthetic admiration, entironment and utility. Recently, with the booming of tour to TVTR, more scholars have become concerned with tourism study on this type of resorts. To study impacts of tourism development on TVTR's society, economy and environment from the angle of residents' attitudes and explores some corresponding strategies will help enrich contents of Tourism Geography and Tourism Society, promote effective protection of TVTR, correctly deal with the contradiction between tourism development and protection at TVTR in possession of abundant heritages, enrich domestic case studies of resort residents' perception and attitudes with regard to tourism impacts, and provide some theoretical grounds for establishing tourism development planning, perfect community participation system at tourist destinations for the purpose of tourism sustainable development.The thesis consists of 5 chapters:In Chapter 1, the author makes a detail review of both abroad and domestic literatures on studies of resorts residents' perception and attitudes and of TVTR tourism.In Chapter 2, the author firstly introduces the background information of the study region briefly. Then, she presents her own study background, study contents, study methods and data resources.In Chapter 3, taking Xidi and Hong Villages, 2 ancient Huizhou villages, as examples, the author analyzes stakeholder relationships based on detail interviews of representatives of them with the help of Stakeholder Theory, finds out the major problems facing the two places and impacts of tourism on local society, economy and environment after the investigation and analysis of residents' perception and attitudes with regard to tourism development, then proposes some beneficial suggestions and countermeasures.In Chapter 4, taking TAS as an example, the author seeks to find the real intention of public intervention in the preservation and tourism development of historic cultural streets (HCS) by way of interviews on related stakeholders and the analysis of businessmen and residents' attitudes towards it. Then she presents her suggestions for TAS development, hoping to be of important reference for the preservation and tourism sustainable development of HCS.After more than ten years' development, tour to ancient water towns has now become one of the most characteristic branding in the whole eastern China. However, problems also arise with the development of tourism. In Chapter 5, taking Wuzhen Town in Zhejiang Province as an example, the author seeks to make a pilot study of tourism development strategy in ancient water towns on the southern bank of the Yangtze River based on on-the-spot investigation and tourist interviews.
