Taking the cases of big specialized households of crop and animal productions in Yangzhou Municipality, Jiangsu Province and applying the methodologies of empirical research, the analyses have been made on the expected outputs of those households to participated in the order-based agricultural production, the factors to influence their decision-making, and the assessment of various stakeholders on the order-based agricultural production, and the suggestions proposed on its further development. The main conclusions of the research were made as the following:1. The big households belong to the category of "capable persons". Whether they participated or not in the order-based agricultural production, the stable channel of marketing was the most important concern of theirs. They are often the pioneers and have strong initiatives to try new things in farming activities. Most of them participated in the order-based agriculture on their own initiatives.2. The factors to influence the big households in their decision-making include mainly the production scale, qualification of the labors, fund, technical and information services, laws and regulations, policies, etc. There were differences in influencing factors and/or the degrees among the households due to the different categories of productions.3. The results of assessment on the outputs and effects of order-based agricultural production were various among different stakeholders. The leading enterprises in the chain of order-based agricultural production have the advantage position and were benefited the most so that they often give the positive remarks. The intermediate organisations pay the key roles in such kind of production. The organisations holding certain technologies, attitude to serve farmers and proper mechanism to allocate the benefits among producers, processors, sellers and themselves, the big specialized households and the farmer agents have played important roles and the order-based productions with such kinds of actors and arrangement have higher rate of success.4. The big households participated in the order-based production considered that the order contracts are not standardized and lack monitoring and control as the biggest problem. While the ones who didn't participated in the production considered the imperfectness of the intermediate organisations as the most important constraint to the development and effectiveness of the order-based agricultural production. Almost all of the big households considered it necessary to organize the economic cooperative and were willing to join it.Based on the conclusions above-mentioned, the thesis proposed recommendations on the supports to strengthen and scale-up the leading enterprises, the development of economic cooperatives in rural areas and the human resource development for the big households.
