The Theoretical Research On Regional Competitiveness

Regional competitiveness is a new subject of study in regional economic research in modern age. In this paper the subject of study (region) is put in a bigger scope and its advantages and disadvantages are judged by the methods of comparative economics and economic competitive principle. Thus we can set down the strategies and enhance the regional development according to them. Up to now the generalized received definition of the regional competitiveness hasn't evolved. In my opinion the regional competitiveness to a region is the ability of the attractiveness for the resources and the contention for market in the bigger region.The theory of the regional competitiveness's discussed on the bails of definition and correlative theories at home and abroad. The thesis is divided into seven parts. Its structure and main contest are summarized as followings:The first part is introduction. It briefly presents the research background, significance and current situations.The second part illustrates the essence of the regional competitiveness which is mainly discussed thorough five aspects: regional economics is the science that studies the collocation of the scarce resources; the definition of the regional competitiveness tries to break through the confinement of the traditional PPFcurve and renders a new train of thought; the theory of the regional competitiveness studies the behavior of invisible hands by the visible hands; the core of the regional competitiveness to a region is directed to the collocation ability of the resources in the bigger region.The third part deals with the research methods of the regional competitiveness, which is mainly a supplement to the SWOT method.The fourth part gives the study model of the regional competitiveness. In this part IMD and Porter's model of the regional competitiveness are forest introduced and then the improved model is given. At the same time the correlative factors in the model are explained thoroughly.In the fifth part the evaluation index system is introduced. In this part the principle of the evaluation index system is first studied thoroughly and then evaluation index system is given and at the same time correlative factors are explained thoroughly.The sixth part involves the strategic principle of the regional competitiveness. In this part sevens principles are put forward: concentration principle, specialty principle, impetus principle, trends principle, scale principle, cooperation principle, and fiction principle, at the same time the principles are explained.The seventh part is the conclusion.
