Strategic alliances between corporations have been booming since 1990 with the development of economic globalization and the technology advancement. And this term is being highly concerned both in the field of academy and enterprise in the recent year. Strategic alliances, say, as a cooperative strategies between enterprises, which is becoming a main stream of corporation competitive mode in the new economic era, is playing a more and more important role in the process of keeping the corporation competitive advantages.Meanwhile, strategic alliance is one of the highest repetition words in the reports of the domestic media. With the domestic economy being in the period of rapid growth, More and more Chinese enterprises have cooperative arrangements with the multinational corporations through the foreign capital introduction. Though much improvement has been made in the domestic strategic alliances, in which there is a great disparity both in scale and form comparable to the large multinational corporations and also there are lots of issues needing further consideration.This thesis discusses the conception, category, the history and the latest development of strategic alliance, its competitive advantages and risk and the approaches of risk prevention are also mentioned. In addition, it points out the requisition and necessity of the alliance strategy growth in our country in the current condition. Combined with the case of joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Co. (DFM) and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd (Nissan), the thesis is focused on the research of the typical mode of the strategic alliance, say, joint venture, in China and also makes a analysis and summary of it, which will have certain reference to developing alliance strategy for Chinese corporations.
