The Applied Study On CMM And Computer Aided Platform For CMM

The Capability Maturity Model for Software was initially produced by the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon University. In February 1993, the SEI released the formal version of the CMM, Version 1.1,which is the result of the ongoing feedback from the software community. The CMM provides a framework with five levels for measuring the maturity of an organization's software process and for evaluating its software process capability. The five maturity levels define the path of continuous software process improvement for the software company.Since CMM was introduced into China, More and more companies have been applying it for software process improvement and some researcher have participated in the research about CMM. But most of these researches are theoretical research about CMM. Without referring to successful experience. Many IT companies can't find the right way when they apply CMM to improve internal software process.After graduation, I have several years work experience in software development and quality management department in several software companies. I am deeply aware of the importance that the CMM help organizations improve their software process. According to the current situation of research and application about CMM, I have investigated four software companies and come along with their full process during their applying CMM, by which I get some valuable material. The four companies have successful experience in applying CMM. Analyzing and researching their software process improvement is helpful for other companies to apply CMM.There are some achievements in the thesis:1 The thesis gives the key step to apply CMM according to the materials now available, and discuss how to ascertain the time and scope of applying CMM.Moreover, the thesis expounds the problem of resource investment and other important problems.2 Based on the research outcome of the thesis, I develop the Computer Aided Platform and discuss the impact of software tool during applying CMM.
