Project Management Maturity Model And Its Assessment Method

As a new conception, Project Management Maturity Model provides a appraisal and improvement frame for elevating enterprise project management level. Based on the process of project management, Project Management Maturity Model divides the level of Enterprise Project management into five degrees from adhoc to discipline till optimizing, and forms a improving method of enterprise project management step by step.The management level of each grade will be used as a foundation to achieve the higher grade, the continuously improving process of enterprise project management maturity is also the process that the enterprise gradually improve its project management level.According Project Management Maturity Model,enterprise can find out the defect of its project management, and identify its project management weakness. From soluting some key problems that can help improve its project management level, enterprise can form a strategy to improve its project management, and gradually improve its project management level, and make its project management ability kept on increasing.In this paper, firstly, the conception of project management process maturity is put forward from the point of project management process, and the appraisal index system of project management is set up based on the process capability of project management. Then the paper selects the key process area of each maturity degree according to the idea of CMM. Based on the index system and KPA, Project Management Maturity Model is upbuilded. Secendly, the paper use the qualitative and quantitative method to appraisal project management, the appraisal index system use six quantitative indexes to measure maturity, the key process area evaluate maturity degree from qualitative point. Finally, the paper studys the application of project management maturity model in enterprises, and detailedly discusses the feasibility and the steps to develop PM3 Certification System in China.
