Research On Large-scale Development Of SMEs

Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs for short) are of great importance in the development of a country and it also plays significant role in Chinese economic development. By taking SMEs as example, this paper seeks to find out the characteristics of scale development of SMEs compare to large-scale enterprises, and explore how to promote the SMEs to utilize scale economy, so as to put forward some methods to enhance competition and contribution to national economy. This paper has five chapters. The first chapter reviews the theory of scale economy from the view of classical economy, neo-classical economy, other western economists and Chinese scholars. Though many economists acknowledge that SMEs have the good reason to survive and superior to many large-scale enterprises, few believe SMEs have scale economy. And there are little relevant discuss.The second chapter analyzes scale economy from the view of content, layer substantially. The chapter introduces environment of economy and technology in which SMEs develop. The economic factors include economic globalization, change of market, web-economy and the coming of knowledge economy; the technological factors include information & communication technology (ICT), technological apply based on net-computerized technology and shorten of products span. The chapter also differs inner scale economy from outer economy and points out that outer one is the new developing model of scale economy. The chapter then differs industrial scale economy from multi-industrial one. The last part of the second chapter gives the different modes that SMEs can make use of, including e-commerce, tactics league, concatenate, outsourcing, MC and cluster of SMEs.The third chapter adopts methodology of comparative analysis and empiricalanalysis and contrasts large-scale development of SMEs to large-scale enterprises; and contrasts SMEs' development in Japan, Italy and America. Taking tactics league in Wenzhou China, outsourcing in Japan and Silicon Valley in America as sample, the chapter also carries out sample proof. This chapter seeks to know about scale development of SMEs theoretically and practically.The forth chapter puts forward the countermeasures that SMEs should make technological innovation, management innovation, property structure readjustment, construct culture in an enterprise and region, and establish service organization of SMEs.At last this paper generalizes and synthesizes the research in body part, and further highlights this article's central argument.
