Transmission planning play a very important role in the electric market. If the capacity is sufficient. The capacity disposes will concern the interests of every market member, will concern every participant. It even influences the safe of the system, so transmission planning is a noticeable problem. After the reform of the power industry, the methods and content will be different from the past due to the uncertainties of investment, load and policies. This paper introduces some foreign experience and studies the methods of transmission planning in a deregulated environment. The analysis includes investment, planning methods transmission pricing, connection cost and wheeling cost. The end of this thesis puts forward some useful suggestions for transmission planning in China's power market.
