China is a developing country with large population. The realization of the quick urbanization must rely on the promotion of industry. After the INDUSTRY REVOLUTION, the urbanization developed quickly in western capitalist nations, and then expanded to the other districts in the world. The fact proves that the urbanization is the direct outgrowth of industrialization. At the same time, owing to the scale effect and the cluster economic effect of the city, the city promotes the development of the industrialization and the socialization of production and service, and promotes the adjustment and the promotion of economic structure.The thesis focus on the development of the town agglomeration and the layout of the characteristic industry zone in the western district of Chongqing. By studying the town agglomeration, we will know the definite space structure, as well as the economic space structure. Certainly a city is in one big system, relating with the cities around it; thus this thesis also will study the relationship with the metropolitan advanced economic sphere of Chongqing, with the cities around it in Sichuan province.
