The Situation And Regional Difference On Urban Female Employment In China

Since 1990s, China's economic structure has changed considerably. The adjustment of industrial structure and reforms in ownership inevitably affects the employment structure , the most obvious change is the labor force participation rate of urban female employment. On one hand, the steady and rapid economic development has brought to more job opportunities and more choices for women; On the other hand, with the deepening of economic structure adjustment and urban employment system reformation, the surplus labor force hidden in the state-owned enterprises have been released gradually. Especially after 1995, a large number of state-owned enterprises workers have been laid off to get more profits, among of them, a considerable part is female workers.China's economic transition accelerates the change of labor market. The growth rate of GDP between regions is so different that caused the unbalancing job opportunities and the different situations of urban female employment in different areas. Under this circumstance, this thesis emphasizes on its characteristics of industrial-occupational structure, the labor force participation, unemployment rate and its spatial different in Three Belt. Finally, we further discuss the factors and its significance.A general outline of the paper is as the follows:l.Introduction.I introduce why I chose this subject. Based on reviewing the theories interrelated to women employment, I confine my research contents, build up the frame of the thesis, and take the measures.2.The changing of urban women employment from 1949.In this part, it reviews the situation of urban women employment at various stages, as well as sum up its characters and problems in different economic and labor systems. 3.By making the most of the fifth population census data, China Labor Statistical data from 1998 to 2002,it describes fully the current situation and its characteristics of urban female employment in china as well as the existing problems in the transitions of economic and employment system.4. The part analyzes regional differences of urban women employment based on the data of population census, China Labor Statistical from 1998 to 2002, then give some explanation.5. In this part, I outline the main existing problems of women employment and appraise them from the perspective of society and family, etc.6. Conclusions and reflections are put forwards in the final part of the paper.
