The Decision Of Urbanization Models In West Of China

As one of the important measures to coordinate urban and rural development, resolve the problem of peasant, countryside and agriculture, speeding up urbanization progress is written in the fifteenth five-year Plan. But because of the effect of historical, economic, and natural factors, the level of urbanization in west area is much lower than that in east area and average in our country, It's very necessary to improve the level of urbanization in west area. Doing this benefits to not only narrowing the social and economic gap between east and west, but also improving the total level of urbanization in our country. Then how to improve the level of urbanization in west area, I think the most is to improve the economic level in west area, push forward urbanization by industrialization and agriculture modernization. Besides, about the decision of urbanization models, that is, how to deal with the relationship between big and middle cities and little cities and towns during urbanization, this thesis concludes that west area should have priority to big cities through the analysis to the geographical and economic factors in west area. This accords with not onlythe general law of world's urbanization and common economic law, but also the reality in west area.Based on the consideration above, the construction of this thesis as follows: First chapter introduces the theories of the decision of urbanization: urban scale, urban system, urban effect, urban scale effect and so on, which is the theoretical basic to following parts. Second chapter introduces the natural, geographical and economic conditions to illustrate: (1) the lower urbanization level in west area result from its poorer natural and economic conditions, (2) the decision of urbanization models in west area not only benefits to its economic development, but also accords with its natural and geographical conditions, can't copy the model in developed area. Just based on this, this thesis puts forward the priority to big cities. Third chapter uses the analytical method of urban scale effect, through the comparison between big cities and little cities and towns, then concludes that west area should have priority to big cities. Last chapter simply introduces a few points paid attention during urbanization in west area, which is a necessary supplement to third chapter.
