A Study On Sustainable Development Strategies For Municipal Construction

Municipal construction is increasingly important for the city development, which can not only promote the economic growth and competition power, but also help to plan and lay out reasonably the space, optimize industrial structure, allocate well the limited resources, and facilitate the harmonious co-existence of man and environment. Ever since the economic reform, the urbanization process in China has speeded up, both the numbers and sizes of cities have leapfrog increased. At the same time, many problems appeared. It is really urgent to make a feasible development strategy facing the new challenges under the new circumstance.This paper first reviewed the growth paths of many foreign cities, especially the modern municipal construction history. Then based on the city development theories, the author forecast the city development tendencies. Furthermore, the author reached the conclusion that city development in the new century should also follow the principles like "put people first" and "sustainable develop". Finally, this article proposed 6 basic platforms for sustainable development strategy of municipal construction. The breakthroughs in this article are the 4 factors in making municipal construction development strategy as well as the 4-factor-diamond pattern. Based on the above researches, the author put forward some city construction development strategy for Tianjin.
