Ample workforce in Chengdu gives it a good base for development of economy. Also, as a super large city with hundreds of millions people in the western region of China, there are various chances for development and high demand for workforce. Due to the historical reason, birth rate kept high. The balance wasn't reached between the population and social economy development and the contradiction between labor supply and demand is outstanding. In the meantime, it showed characteristics of "Two High, Two Low and Two Slow" in the structure of Chengdu's employment. "Two High" means high population in primary industry and high weight of state own economy. "Two Low" means low population in the third industries and low labor force involved in private industries. "Two Slow" means the decreases of the population in primary industries and of the weight of hiring distribution in state own industries are slow. These characteristics would not change drastically in a short period of time. Due to the unbalance of structures of Chengdu's labor quality and economy, improvement on employment structure will be a tough long-term task. The problems on Chengdu's global trend of population development and employment structure result in the increase of employment pressure and toughness of employment.Based on the important theories and effects on employment issue, I chose "Theory and fact study on employment issue in Chengdu" as the topic of my thesis. In this thesis, I reviewed the employment theories both from China and oversea. I advocated the theoretical frame of regional employment based on the interaction between government and marketplace. Based on that theory, I did the fact study on the employment in Chengdu, the model of China's western inner city, and found that the principle contradiction and problems on employment. Based on the relationship between the increase of population and economy, I also predicted the supply and demand on Chengdu's labor force in the future. At last, I suggested the methods and approaches to alleviate the contradiction of employment between Chengdu's urban and rural area.The exploration in this thesis includes:1. The establishment of regional employment theory is an exploration and creativity for employment theory. It discussed the government effect on alleviate the contradiction of the employment between the urban and rural area from the view of continuous regional economy development. It explored the methods of overall arrangement and balanced development ofmiddle-level urban-rural employment.2. The model effect of the study subject. Chengdu is the central city of western inner area and the high profile of the relationship betweenpopulation and economy in western area. So it has important leading effect for the other cities via exploring rule, beneficial idea and method, scientific summary and predictions.3. This thesis not only deeply analyzed the general employment issue, but also discussed some new problems of employment, such as employment for peasants who lost their land and the employment during the urban-rural economy develop adjustably. No doubt, it gives the lead on the study of employment.Due to the author's limited knowledge, there are some weaknesses on the study of Chengdu's employment. I just wanted to take this opportunity to draw society's attention from all level on employment issue and give a push on balanced development of the society from all levels.
