When time is entering 21st century, the conventional retailing industry returns back to the stage of economy to act protagonist. When Wai-Mart Store made good development for forty years, it is a miracle that it became No.1 of top 500 enterprises in the world from a small grocery.China has entered in WTO(World Trade Organization) almost three years,it means that Chinese government will abrogate the protectionism policy for all Chinese retailing enterprises. In another words that the restriction for foreign invested retailing enterprise will not exit. During the moment of truth for Chinese retailing enterprises, the article integrates the theory of management and practice to analyse the successful course and experience of Wal-Mart detailedly, and summarize its rootstock of development is that successful competitive strategy system mainly, specially the overall cost leadership strategy is put into effect.Therefore, the article discusses the final outlet for Chinese retailingenterprises are that they should learn from Wal-Mart--such kind of retailingenterprise. They should learn advanced supply chain management, which is established on the profound corporation culture, and application of information technology, and the way that this kind of retailing enterprise can keep overall cost leadership strategy advance. So, Chinese retailing enterprise must make suitable development strategy and insist on fulfilling so that they can build up their own competitive advantage and core competitive force.
