The Influence Of The Evolution Of The Election Institution In Village Committee On Rural Women's Election--Reports From Village J In YiChang

The election institution in village committee is the basis of democracy in the grass roots of China. The constitution and practice of the election institution of village committee directly concerns the effect and quality of the election in village committee. It concerns the ruling by law progress of villagers' self-government and the practice of democracy government, democracy decision-making, democracy supervision too. From its birth to now, the election institution in village committee has changed in many ways such as: the way of affirming the qualification of electorates, the way of candidate' emergence and the voting way etc. The election quality and effect is growing up with the institution becoming more and more standard. With rural women becoming the main force in agriculture production, but the quality and quantity of their election are out of proportion to their input on agriculture. The political status of rural women, especially in the process of the evolution of the election institution in village committee, is a less focused area. In this paper, I will search the influence of the evolution of the election institution in village committee on rural women's election. There are some new viewpoints in it. For example: The traditional culture let villagers lose sight of the faculty of women cadres, rural women give uptheir election chance because of lack of confidence; villagers misunderstand the content and significance of the sex protection policy as the excuse of fixing on one's business including its sex because of their low education degree.
