Knowledge will be the primer driver behind the economy growth in the world in the new century, and provide enterprises an upper hand in competition in the market place. To a nation or an enterprise, its growth potential and strength in competition depends on whether it has human resources armed with updated knowledge and capable of sustained renovation, therefore, the role of human resources in the development of economy , and the development and training of human resources should be earnestly addressed. Training of corporate human resources to improve employee qualifications is the way to enhance the corporate competitiveness and sustainable growth potential, and to eventually to achieve its organizational development objectives. To fully exploit the benefits the training can contribute, a corporate human resources training system should be designed and implemented based on an thorough analysis of the current status of the enterprise in question.SEPC is an extra large-sized state-owned enterprise. It has always paid proper attention to employee training. SEPC is now re-orienting itself both in management and operation in the new environment brought by the recent industry reform generation and grid separation. SEPC now needs a large crew of operational and managerial personnel who are properly trained to operate and manage a grid business. Specifically-tailored training to existing employees is now high on theagenda of the SEPC management. The current training system of SEPC can not adequately meet the needs of the much-wanted training. Redesign of the training system is required to meet the new needs of SEPC raised by the industry restructuring.This paper starts from a brief presentation of training theories, and analyzes the basic training models. The paper goes on to analyze the current situation of human resources training in SEPC to locate the major problems and the reasons behind them. A redesigned scheme of human resources training system is subsequently put forward. The paper is divided into five sections. Section 1 introduces the background information for writing the paper and the important role human resources training plays in corporate development. Section 2 describes the basic theories and models for training which serve as the theoretical framework of the paper. Section 3 analyzes the current situation of human resources training in SEPC, finding out its major problems and the reasons behind. Section 4 ,the major part of the paper, proposes a redesigned scheme of human resources training system for SEPC. taking into the specifics of SEPC. Section 5 presents a summary of the paper and an evaluation of the proposed SEPC training system. The paper distinguishes itself in its formulation of methods in the training and development of corporate human resources based on the reality of the enterprise. The paper creatively integrates the cultivation of healthy personality among employees into the human resources training. At the end of paper, a brief discussion is presented on building and operating an enterprise training center.
