The Concept About Social History Of Rational Heroes

Republic , a book famous for rich thoughts and the frequent extractions and quotations from it by many outstanding scholars , is a necessary reading material for European academic circle . The concept of social history starts from the concept of heroic history. The Social Construction theory of the knowledge dictatorship of Plato's "philosopher king" is a rationalism theory of elite knowledge, which is a typical form of the heroic history theory. In that view, we won't hesitate to say that Plato is the originator of the heroic governor theory. This paper, guided by the historical materialism, intends to carry out an analysis about the the emergency, the evolvement, idealization and the ways of realization of society from the perspective of social history on the basis of Republic. This paper tries to reveal its mentalism essence of historical philosophy by analyzing the inner philosophy of his theory, its benefits and defects. As a result, we can have a more thorough understanding of the thought system and the logical development in the social historical field of the European philosophers and enforce our stand of historical materialism. The insights and profound thoughts of Plato as a social historical philosopher and the reserved aspect of his thoughts, which is in defiance with the objective development of society and limited by his time and class are also demonstrated.
