In the final analysis, the competition of economy is the industrial competition. The competitive edge for the whole country lies on its primary industries. Since the reform and opening-up, China's adjustment in industrial structure and the paces of upgrading have been accelerated, it has made the remarkable effect in economic construction, and the overall national strength is greatly strengthened .At present, along with China's entering into the WTO, and The accelerating economic globalization process , the adjustment of our country's industrial structure and upgrading will enter a new historical stage. The adjustment of industrial structure should face not only the rising competition of home market, but also the enormous pressure of international competition, the industrial structure system must be transformed into the opening industrial structure system, thus make industrial structure , economic structure meet the change of the home and abroad market demands. In the following twenty or thirty years, to carry on industrial structure adjustment and upgrade will become the masterstroke of China's economic development.The Yangtze Delta is one of most developed areas of ourcountry, and it has most intensive population, the industry, cities and towns and wealth. Through the more than 20 years' reform and opening-up, the Yangtze Delta regional economic development has already formed the stable foundation, demonstrating the powerful and standing economic growth. Meanwhile, the industrial structure of the Yangtze Delta is being constantly upgraded and optimized, and its industry's economy grows vigorously, demonstrate the characteristics that the seconds third industries advance together the regional economy development. The Yangtze Delta will be able to become the guide area to induce the economic development of the Yangtze River valley and to march toward of the international market.Under the guidance of the industrial structure theory and the regional development gradient shift theory, this thesis researches and analysises the history actuality and current of development of the Yangtze Delta's industry, point out the question of adjustment of its industrial structure and upgrading, then put forward the thought and countermeasure to complete the Yangtze Delta's industry and advance the regional economy.The thesis consist of seven chapters. The seventh one, put forward the thought and countermeasure to complete the Yangtze Delta's industry and advance the regional economy.
