| The last ten years in the 20th century was indeed a very important historical period for Dalian: the urban environment was constantly being improved, the urban functions were rising, which created excellent conditions for Dalian's economic development. Dalian was listed as one of China's five big international cities on a par with Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing in The Research Report of Social Development in China undertaken by the Renmin University of China. However, the advantages formed in Dalian are gradually decreasing at the turning of the new and old centuries, which has restricted the development of Dalian. The topic of the re-study on the economic developmental model of Dalian is put in front of the theoretical workers in order to realize the urban sustainable development. In the meantime, in the new century, the revival of the old industrial bases in the northeastern area has provided new opportunities for the development of Dalian and its development would be of important significance for Dalian, Liaoning and the whole northeastern area. And how Dalian could grasp the opportunity to develop and then to exert its leading action in the northeastern area, this realistic question would certainly require a deep research on the economic developmental model of Dalian.In the existing research results, researchers always pay more attention on the summary of the successful experience of Dalian's model of economic development; comparatively speaking, the analysis on the existing problems of the model is insufficient. This thesis has done research on this status quo.At first, based on the analysis of the formation conditions, the formation course and the main contents the model contains, the thesis positions Dalian's economic developmental model as a model of the environmental economy. The main conditions of forming the model in Dalin are that the great epoch background, such as the arrival of the epoch of the sustainable development, the fierce competition among cities, challenges and difficulties met in the urban development in the northeastern area, has put forward requirements for the environment of the economic development. And at the same time, the natural, geographical and other conditions and also the humanity factors have been in favor of Dalian to choose such a way of developing. The formation course of Dalian's model has been encircling the urban ecological construction of beautifying, cleaning and brightening up and the urban infrastructure construction that has put the rising of the urban functions as the goal. The content of the model concerns many respects. The thesis mainly analyzes several important aspects such as the directory thinking of the urban development, the urban developing goal and the urban developmental planning. Secondly, it summarizes several points that could be taken as references of the environmental economic model of Dalian. And emphasis is put on the analysis of the main problems existing in the model. The experience that can be learnt from is expressed in the following: the construction of the infrastructure facilities can be exceeded to some extent, the fund can be operated in the market mechanism, the focus is put on the upgrading of the urban functions and the quality of the development is taken as the priority. The main problems existing are the insufficient construction of the soft environment and the utilization of the advantages of the hard environment is not sufficient. Besides, oriented toward the insufficiency of Dalian's model of the environmental economy and its existing superiority foundations, countermeasures and suggestions have been put forward on how Dalian could develop in the future. Lastly, some conclusions have been drawn up: the economic developmental model of Dalian is a model of the environmental economy, which has some experience to be taken as the references and it also has many disadvantages; the future development of Dalian should overcome them and base itself on its advantages in its development.
