Study On The Space Difference Of Regional Economy Of Gansu Province On The Basis GIS

The difference of regional economy is a kind of objectively existing economic and social phenomenon. The appropriate distinction helps to promote rational disposition and the space transferring of the industry. But too big regional economic distinction is not merely harmful to regional economic development, but is also related to the stability of the society. The regional economic difference, the core problem of the regional economic research and a widespread problem in the process of economic development all over the world, has always aroused the universal concerns of the academia and the governmental departments of various countries. In recent years, more and more economists, economic geography scholars, policymakers and some other development economist attempt to link the space to merge within traditional theoretical frame of economic analysis and decision so that the research of all types of economic activities and economic phenomena can be made from the angle of space. People are greatly interested in the technical application of the GIS (Geographic Information System) to the economic development, especially to the process of the economic analysis and decision-making at all levels of different regions.This article defines the comprehensive evaluation index in the way of AHP and GIS on the basis of first discussion on the main theories of the regional economy and its development and utilizes the comprehensive appraisal value finally calculated as the platform to form the district-dividing graph of regional economy on space differences of Gansu province. It analyses and discusses in depth the characteristics of the space difference of Gansu province and its internal and external difference mechanisms, on the basis of which a discussion on the evaluation method of the space difference and the result-analysis of the regional economy is furthered.The result of the study shows:First, the overall space pattern of the regional economic development level in Gansu province is high for west, while the east is low. The north is high while the south is low; Second, the disparity of regional economic development levelis relatively great; Third, the undeveloped county districts (fourth gradient district) is in the obviously centralized distribution and the economic structure within the districts has similarities to an extent. Forth, utilizing GIS to analyze the space distinction of regional economy has its own advantages. Fifth, utilizing GIS to study the space distinction of regional economy is now becoming one of the directions and the tendencies of the regional economic research field and the study on the application of GIS.Though the research, we also find the spatial distinction of the regional economy shown by the result of the study can't reflect the distinctive economic levels within a county. The indexes used in the research are not quite enough on the requirement of the key indexes of basic natural geography of regional economy and the newly-constructed model needs to be further studied more overall and objectively.
