Classification Research On Shanghai Basic Administrative Community

Since 1990's, with the establishment of the socialist marketing economy and the transition of economy and society in China, Great changes have taken place in urban society in China. The first change is that many socialist functions have been given back to society which was taken on by "Danwei" before. The second is that various possessory enterprises have come into being and a great deal floating people have appeared. The third is that society rank is becoming clearer and the gap between the rich and the poor is larger. Society has to show much concern to the poor. The fourth is that the residents need better community service with the city development and the life level improving. The fifth change is that large number of people whose houses were broken need planting in the result of rebuilding of the old city .The practice has proved that it is difficult for the government to deal with all the social problems by itself. Only by the collaboration of the whole society, can all problems be solved very well. It seems that democracy consciousness level is low in the present. So it is necessary to mobilize the residents to take part in community rebuilding by Jiedao-so called "Government Agency". So the communities based on Jiedao are developing rapidly in many big cities and middle cities in china. Influenced by the economy, society and culture factors, the population structure is changing. There appears a trend that the community types are becoming more and more diversified and the character of each type are unique.Jiedao is not only the basic unit of regionalism and China regime' foundation, but also is the basic location of residents' life, production and communication. Because of the two characters of Jiedao, the writer regards Jiedao as Chinese community and undertakes a research on classification of community. And the writer proposes "administering community according to character of community and leading community rebuilding" as a solution.The thesis is composed of five chapters. The writer introduces the research background, purpose and significance in Chapter 1. Chapter 2 includes the review of the domestic and oversea research founding on community types. Chapter 3 explains the principle and method with which to classify the Shanghai communities. Chapter 4 classifies the communities by monomial-factor method and multinomial-factor method. Chapter 4 also introduces the character and social problems of each type of communities. Chapter 5 points out the insufficiencies in the thesis and identifies the new research direction.
