In the new era, with the dramatic increase of China's comprehensive national power, global influence and prestige, the international community increasingly concerns about China's future direction. The role China plays in the future world pattern is also becoming more and more important. As China is a responsible great country, the new generation of leaders represented by Hu Jintao has proposed a new idea of creating a"harmonious world"with the high degree of times development and the cause of human progress, starting from the joint interests of all mankind and the fundamental interests of our people. It is a new summary of our foreign strategy in a new era, a new guideline of the external practice and the current major theoretical innovation in international relations. It has a deep background, profound theoretical origin, rich scientific content and essential theoretical and practical significance.The "Harmonious world " is not built overnight, it's not a short-term behavior. It is a tortuous development process from quantity to quality, from low to high, from partial to full. Although hegemonism and power politics still exist, threats of traditional security and non-traditional security are intertwined, the wealth gap is obvious and other issues bring obstacles to the realization of"harmonious world", the in-depth development of economic globalization and political multi-polarization, along with people around the world's urgent pursuit of the democratization of international relations and the diversity of world civilization create a realistic possibility to build a harmonious world. Therefore, we are to promote a"harmonious world"ultimately as long as we stand on the basis of following the basic principles of building a harmonious world, adhere to the UN Charter and Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, based on building a harmonious society in the domestic, adhere to the focal point of diplomatic layout which regards great powers as the key, the surrounding as the first, developing countries as the bases and multilateral cooperation as the stage, and regard the establishment of joint interests basis as the guarantee.
