Trust in government, referring to the public trust in government, reflecting the relationship between people and the government. Generally, the public trust in government is the confidence in the government, but also means that the degree of popular political support. Whether the Chinese public trust the government, will directly determine how people deal with the government, how to take political action。This affects both social stability and governance effectiveness, but also shows the government's legitimacy. Many empirical studies suggest that Chinese people give a high degree of trust in government! So, if Chinese people really trust the government? What is the impact factors ? In this thesis in path of empirical research, based on 2006 national General Social Survey (CGSS) data, using SPSS statistical software for quantitative analysis, inspection and analysis. This thesis is divided into five parts:The first part describes the concept of trust in government. Where does Trust in government come from, and the basic , can not do without it for the Definition of trust in government. So,what is trust ? In general there are three explanations:rational choice theory, epistemology, cultural theory. We can find that trust is an attitude of people, embedded in social relations, related to personal interests, beliefs and cultural values. Trust is often faced with the risk of uncertainty about the action of others public trust in government, depending on government's action that people perceived. The second part is review empirical literature on trust in government, including research Relating factors. Foreign scholars analyze the changes in trust in government. Corresponding to three theories of trust mainly from economic factors, social factors, cultural factors. For China, there are three aspects, as governmental performance, political culture and political efficacy, for scholars to analyze trust in government. Researchers believe that the Chinese governmental performance improve people's income levels and improve the material quality of life. At the same time authoritarian political culture and political efficacy had significant effects on trust in government. The third part is the hypothesis. The problem we study is the factors of trust. Therefore, we set the dependent variable as trust in government; the independent variable are governmental performance, authoritarian political culture, political efficacy and sense of social justice. From the above literature review, we assume that the Chinese people more likely to trust the government , with four independent variables are positive relate。We test four hypothesis using CGSS in fourth part. We found that the Chinese people's trust in the government close to "more trust". This means that the people trust government on the whole. This is because we found that respondents were more agreeable to the political value of authoritarianism, political efficacy is relatively high, also believes that more just society. The effect of factors is: for trust in Government, authoritarian political value has maximum influence, and political efficacy and social justice have implications, but little effect on government performance. The fifth part is the political consequences and its response. Relatively high trust in government in China. This is good news for the Government's further reform and governance. However, we can see disharmony between the government and people, particularly the conflict between officials and citizens. Chinese leaders at all levels of government should put social justice into government performance evaluation, so that people share the results of economic development; continuing to open government affairs, will meet political participation. This should be effective way to get reasonable trust in the government ,improve governance, enhance governmental legitimacy.
