City is the important tourist destination. With the vigorous development of tourism, the importance and immediate significance of city tourism image building up have been accepted gradually by all domestic city management departments. So, the domain of domestic tourism science and other related sciences has focused on the research on city tourism image recently. Based on the study of pioneers and practice, the inheritance and innovation of context in building up domestic city tourism image are discussed in this thesis. Four parts are included in this thesis: The first part is the review on research of domestic city tourism image. At present, study of domestic city tourism image mainly belongs to two fields including city tourism and tourism image. In both research fields, following characteristics are displayed: strong pertinence and practicability related with tourism marketing closely; cross research from various angles and sciences has been an important direction by using relative theories and different ways. However, some shortcomings still exist. For example, the method of study is not only simple but also mechanical, the development of foundation theory study is very slow, and the study of context has not been further touched on. The connotation of city context and city tourism image is discussed in the second part. In this part, different interpretations about the connotation of city context from the realm of architecture and tourism science and discussions about the connotation of city tourism image from different researchers are summarized and analyzed. On basis of summary and analysis, a new viewpoint of relationship between city tourism image and city image is put forward. In addition, the author thinks that city context is one of the fundamental factors in building up city tourism image, and city tourism image is the embodiment of the city context. The third part mainly discusses the inheritance and innovation of context in building up city tourism image. Firstly, the author points out some wrong ideas about it at present. For example, building up city tourism image is simply mistaken for the building of city visional image, economy effect of city tourism image is magnified lopsidedly, and the demands of recreation of city inhabitants are neglected. Secondly, the author points out that city inhabitants are the important inheritors of city context, and city inhabitant image is an important part of city tourism image. Finally, the author points out that city inhabitants are the innovators of context in building up city tourism image. So, the innovation of context in building up city tourism image mainly relies on city inhabitants'enthusiasm, especially the enthusiasm of ordinary people. Based on above-mentioned viewpoints and discussions, the author puts forward two suggestions that can be used for reference. The last part is the summary. The author summarizes his main viewpoints.
