An Institutional Analysis Of Household Contract System Of Rural Land In Our Country

Issues concerning agriculture, countryside and. fanners, which get more and more attentions, have become the focus of all social circles. Since land is the most important means of production, how is the economic performance of land system is of great significance to the development of rural economy and the stability of the whole society. The rural land in our country is implemented the system of household contract, which promote the development of the rural productivity dramatically at the beginning. However, the defects of such a system are increasingly obvious with the further growth of the productivity. The problem whether to adhere to and perfect it or to abandon it completely attracts extensive attention from all circles.This paper analyzes the produce of the household contract system of land, it's performance in the economic development, the defects of household contract system at present, and the causes and measures of upholding and perfection it from the angle of institution. The introduction including essential definitions of two basic concepts that are system and land system is theory base of this paper. In part I , the produce of the household contract of land and it's economic performance are discussed; in part II , the defects of household contract system at present are analyzed; part III concentrates on the analysis of the causes and measures of upholding and perfection such a system. The measures are as follow: perfection from property right, adoption of specific measures, which suit to the land circulation mechanism of socialist market economy, including creation of external conditions and overcoming internal restrictive elements, and reformation of land requisition.
