With the development of the theory of Olympic Economy, PE industry has become more and more important in the economy in China; therefore, Olympic Economy and its influence on urban development have been made an essential research topic in the field of economics. Beijing bid to host the 2008 Olympic Summer Games, which is as a pivot for the development of China. The Government should not only live up to its words that the 2008 Olympic Games will be the most successful one, but also plan for Beijing's construction and China's economic development from the view of the Olympic Economy which centers on the Olympic Games. The Government's practice mentioned above may make the Olympic Economy maximize its potential and realize the theory of "Green Olympics, Scientific Olympics, Humane Olympics"; it may exert a positive and extensive influence on China and Beijing for a long time; it may promote Beijing's prosperity and the improvement of the whole country; it may make outstanding contributions towards China's prosperity.This paper explains the definition of Olympic Economy and its relevant returns theoretically and practically. Besides, it analyses the gain and loss that Olympic Economy has influenced the regional economic development historically from the view of economics, according to which, it dissects the various problems that may occur in the process of Beijing's programming and constructing for the Olympics. Meanwhile, this paper tells the changes and challenges that the Olympic Economy has provided towards the City's building and Beijing's sustainable development from the view of industry economics (relationship between investment structure and industrial structure). Therefore, some relevant suggestions have been made in this paper, too.
