In recent years, the sue cases received by the Consumer Association constantly go up, agricultural products export frequently encounters obstacles and safety-environmental events occur in a more striking manner. However, all these and other related problems have not been properly controlled and handled. At the same time, rapid progress has been achieved in product quality and product management, but consumers' demand has not been satisfied in pace with quality management progress. The root cause is that the connotation of quality is no longer the same as before. Yet the quality management and control departments failed to be aware that environmental and safety factors actually have become integral parts of quality. This change in quality connotation takes place quietly and slowly, which is much like the evolution process of organisms. According to the homotype theory in system theory and in light of the research methods applied in the study of natural selection and ecological evolution, a research on the relation between market selection and quality evolution is made. In this way, unnecessary prophase work will then be omitted and the research can enter quality phase straightforward. Exactly from this angle, this thesis attempts to explore the quality evolution under market selection conditions. This thesis brings forward a new quality concept that in reference to ecological evolution has environmental protection and safety under its coverage. This research's key and difficult point lies in how to define and interpret this new concept, apply this concept, integrate present quality, environmental protection and safety systems and put it to management practice. The research of this thesis shows that under market selection pressure, the connotation of quality has changed and the original quality management system cannot fit into the changes in current or future comprehensive consumer demand. Therefore, there is a need to update people's (especially those in relevant departments) perception of quality, establish scientific ecological quality concept and construct ecological quality management system, so as to realize relevant parties' interests, including those of enterprises', society's and employees'. This system is an innovation over traditional quality management theories and practice, and carries a strong weight in terms of its theory and practice value.
