Collective Identity And Construction Of Regionalism In East Asia

About the process of regionlizatin,many scholars are inclined to explainthe reasons and predict from power and interest aspects.My paper looks onthe whole world as a concept structure in a constructivism light,then ,Ielaborates identity can reshape identity and interest of countries,stratify theregionlization,analyze respective characteristics of differrent levels.According the present conditions of identity,I conclude the most suitablepattern of regionlization in East Asia.The paper includes four parts.The first part mainly explains andcompares four concept:region,regionalism,regionlization and regionness.Regionness of East Asia is creditable ,it is advancing from the second stageto the third stage.This part also summrizes four regionlization patterns in thehistory.These patterns are "the pattern of 'v'formation","Great Chinatheory","concert of powers"and "ASEAN way".Because these patterns allhave defects,they can't become the dominant form.Besides,these patternsseem to comply with pinciples of realism,can't break traditional frame ofpower and interest.Sometimes the explanation is useful ,but they can'tpushing on the regionlization in East Asia.The second part mainly analyzes the characteristics of regionlization inEast Asia,it includes three parts.Firstly I prove identity can reshape country'sidentity and interest.Country may select identity on the basis of interest ,butcountry sill regards identity as premiss."If there is no interest ,identity lackmotive,if there is no identity,interest will lost direction". We can look onidentity as belief that demand of ego can be meet,take interest as desire thatwe have to seek something."Desire"and "belief"can explain the action ofcountries fully.Identity is specific and need a long period of time,interactionbetween countries is favorable to formation of regionlization.The second partanlyzes contents and characteristics of regionlization.Regionlization in EastAsia includes three forms among which attributive identity and responsiveidentity are weak,functional identity is becoming stronger.Regionlizationincludes collectivism , authoritism and proposition that sovereignty comesabove human right,so,in the process of regionlization of East Asia,it isdifficult for people to thansfer the loyalty to country to trans-institutionentity.Regionnal intergrated identity is still vague. Effect of traditionalreligion on political culture of each country is not wore away.The third partdiscusses the use of identity when countries contend the right of leadershipin regionlization.I point out China should establish closer relation withASEAN and strengthening power continuously,inhancing attraction to otherAsian countries. The third part elaborates formation of regionlization .Firstly,I proveinteraction between material force and conception can produce causality at acertain level,regional identity is effected with material factors.Then,I analyzefavorable factors and side factors in regionlization , prove deeper and closereconomical cooperation and political consultation will lay the foundation ofcollective identity from material aspect.What's more,both from procedureand content,system network that become better day by day is favorable to theineraction between countries.Each country's desire and partiality can beexpressed within system and make other actors get knowledge of demand ofego,at the same time ,countries may renew oppinions about others,which helpto form international elite group.The side factors mainly conclude Americanhegemony and Japan's exocentric force.In recent years,countries havereached agreement on some pinciples and propositions when they dealed withregional hot dispute.All these pinciples are added to the collectiveidentity.With development of interdependence and regional cooperation,evenJapen believe development of China isn't a challenge but a chance.IN aword,all these side factors are weakening continuously. The fourth part focus on four patterns of regionlization in the future.Thefirst pattern,through deepening economical unification,eatrastate organizationcan be created,we can call it "progressive extrastate patterm".But countries inEast Asia don't reach agreement on which country can be leading one inregionlization,the relation between China and Japen laggs,development ofecomomy and police of nations in northeast Asia is not equivalent,so,it isdifficult to establish extrastate entity.The second pattern is establishing closesystem and regimes that overlapped each other,we can call it "complex...
