Engels is one of the founders of Marxism. He held a very important position in the development of Marxism. It's impossible to thoroughly understand that how Marxism has came into being, if you don't know the development of Engels' idea in its early time. The development of Engel's idea has a complicated changing process which has threeperiods--Bremen, Berlin and Manchester periods. In Bremen, Engelsabandoned the old relief and became revolutionary democrat who was against Feudal autocratic system. In Berlin, during his military service period, he opposed Scheclling's Enlightenment philosophy and defended Hegelian's dialectic, then he parted with young Hegelian group and turned to Feuerbach's materialism. In Manchester period, Engel thoroughly transferred from revolutionary democratism to communism and from idealism to materialism.Although Engels' idea had some trace of dialectic philosophy in Manchester period, we cannot underestimate his unique contribution to theformation of Marxism. In this period, Engels put forward some basic principles of Marxism at first. For example, the idea of martial interest determines spirit; made critical analysis on the private ownership and economic category of capitalism; the inevitability of socialist revolution and principle of violent revolution; the historical status of proletarian and its function, etc. There is no doubt that the formation of Marxism would postpone some time without the early works of Engels. Certainly, these contribution of Engels became the part of Marxism only after he founded historical materialism with Marx. It also very reflected the character of the relation of the two great man who independent on each other and also affected each other in the process of founding scientific communism. This article has a deeply study into the Engels' philosophy, plutonomy and socialist idea. It also revealed some prominent character of Engel's idea in this period.
