A Study Of The Development Of Charity Undertakings In China

As economic is developing rapidly in our country, a series of social problems isarising at the same time, such as a widening gap between rich and poor, increasingdifficulties groups, environmental pollution, imbalance between regions. To solvethese social problems, and build a harmonious society, we need to establish a soundsocial security system and strong governmental intervention mechanisms, and it isespecially important for the development of charity at the moment。Because thedevelopment of charity not only can fill the gaps of national policies, and also cancontribute to maintain community health, coordinate development and reduce socialconflict, and enhance social responsibility and ethics, and other aspects of publicfunctions. The current development of China's charities is immature, but it isundeniable that it is the effective mechanism to regulate gap between rich and poorand to reduce social contradictions, so charity in China should develop greatly in thefuture. The Fourth Plenary Session of the Party's Sixteenth also stated clearly the needto "improve the social security system including the social insurance, social relief,social welfare and charity", and it taken explicitly the development of charity as animportant part of the social security system. Social charitable work has become animportant part of socialist harmonious society.There are four parts in the article. The first part is the definition of the concept ofcharity;the second part is the narration of the status of the development of charity inour country, and also an analysis of the current problems in charity;and in the thirdpart, it introduces mainly the experience of western countries' charity;finally in thefour part, it is the analysis of the relationship between the development of aharmonious society and charity, and also some proposals to the development ofcharity at present.In the article, the author takes Marxist theory as a guide, and in study methodtries to achieve the combination of normative research and empirical analysis;qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis;international comparison and nationalcondition analysis;and the combination of historical analysis and study of the presentsituation.Based on the comparative study of social charity home and aboard;benefitingfrom the experience of the overseas operation way;combining with China's currentnational conditions;the author puts forward some proposals for our charity to develophealthy and continually.
