Nowadays, to protect the global environment is the common duty of the whole world. Every country has its collective but slightly differential responsibility. With the deterioration of circumstance, WTO and many other international organizations are focusing on this problem and connecting environment protection and world trade together. When those traditional tariff barrier and non-tariff barriers are losing their glory on market safeguarding, green trade barrier becomes very popular in developed countries. It is frequently used as a tool for domestic market protection and environmental protection.The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter 1 focuses on the concept and characters of green trade barrier. This chapter emphasizes to reinterpret the sort of reasonable green trade barrier and unreasonable green trade barrier. Chapter 2 analyzes the general rule of green trade barrier, including the green trade barrier system of America, Euro Union and Japan. This part also summarizes the popular forms of green trade barrier. Chapter 3 focuses on analyzing the influences of green trade barrier to Chinese foreign trade, concerning two kinds of influences to Chinese foreign trade respectively. One is negative impacts; the other is positive influences, which is regarded as the more important influence. Every coin has its two sides. Green trade barrier brought challenge and precious opportunities meanwhile. It will accelerate Chinese environment protection standard getting close to international standard and Chinese companies concentrating on designing green products. Chapter 4 is devoted to the study of countermeasures of China to deal with green trade barrier. As one of the developing countries, China suffers a lot from green trade barrier. However, China has to face its challenge and break through its negative effects, and establish China green trade barrier system.
