The Central Asia has been the place where many kinds of cultures communicate and many great powers compete since the ancient times. Mackinder, an English strategy scientist once clearly pointed out that the Central Asia and its nearby areas were"the heart of international politics", and Asia-Europe Continent was "the island of the world". He asserted that if who ruled the heart area, who would control the world island and if who ruled the world island, who would control the world. The disintegration of Former Soviet Union enabled the five countries in the Central Asia independent from it and became a new political area. This area has very important geopolitics and energy economy significance, but the countries' own strategic strengths are not strong enough to lead the security and stable development of the area. After the Cold War, many kinds of great powers entered the area one after another, such as US, Russia, Iran, Turkey, India and so on, which has caused the Central Asia present the many-faceted and complicated situation. Among these powers, Russia and US have formulated their explicit strategy on the Central Asia, and positively carried out their strategic methods to realize and maintain their respective strategic benefits.China also has important strategic benefits here, whose peaceful development and consistent development cannot be achieved without the Central Asia. How to meet the situation of the Central Asia and maintain China's strategic interest, is a big challenge that the current Chinese diplomacy faces. At present, the inside and outside situation of the Central Asia was very complicated, where internal strengths and exterior strengths played the role together. Moreover, the distribution of great powers has extremely obvious influence on the Central Asia. This article tries to analyze the international relations in the Central Asia after the Cold War with structure realism theory, and attempts to put forward to some proposals for China's Central Asia strategy. It believes that the institutional multilateralism cooperation strategy is China's current realistic and strategic choice, advocates that China should vigorously strengthen the strategic cooperation with Russia and advance the local security and economic cooperation under the Shanghai Cooperative Organization.
