The end of the Cold War declares the collapse of two-polar pattern in the international political system. A new pattern called "one superpower, multi-great powers" under the US unipolar hegemony replaced the old one, however, the trend of multi-polarization still goes on. As one of the important force in the international politics, Europe conflicts with the US in many issues about how to construct the future world political and economic order. These new divergences, especially after the Iraq war, results the relationship between the two sides of the Atlantic down to the lowest point ever since the WWII. The dissertation investigates the reason of deteriorate relationship between America and Europe in the view of realistic interest conflict and essential strategic controversy, analyzes the evolution and effect of North Atlantic Alliance, and predicts the future trend of North Atlantic Alliance.
