A Research On Neo-Rural Migrant Workers' Consumption

Through the experiential research of the youth rural migrant workers engaged in service industry in some a university, this paper has illuminated a kind of unique living condition and behavior choice of the neo- rural migrant workers. Although they are facing the same problems of slender income and rough working conditions with the traditional rural migrant workers, the neo- rural migrant workers actually have quite different consumption altitude, consumption behavior and self-identity. This paper has concluded the awkward statement of the neo-rural migrant workers that they are not willing to follow the life track of the traditional rural migrant workers, however, at the same time, they couldn't control their own destiny and have a available plan.This paper believed, the appearance of neo- rural migrant workers mainly based on following reasons: First, with the development of the rural migrant worker group nearly more than 20 years, the internal non-uniformity has obviously enhanced. The demonstration and accumulated effect of the first generation rural migrant workers'migration already appeared. Second, due to several factors, the rural migrant workers who were born in 80s are easier to receive the modernization and civilization. And they have taken the manner which caters to city on their own initiative. Third, as a result of the great difference between city and countryside, it is difficulty for rural migrant-worker-group to complete urbanization and social mobility through a available way. What they could do is only to imitate the city life by consumption.Because most jobs which rural migrant workers do are in high-danger and low-income, rural migrant workers will not have any income if they are out of work , and the neo-peasant laborers is not willing to return to the countryside ,the social stabilization will face a great challenge . Therefore, author believed that technical training to the neo- rural migrant workers is a very important method to improve their ability for employment,getting reasonable wages and transforming themselves to industrial workers. At the same time, strengthening ideologicaleducation to the neo- rural migrant workers could help them set up the correct idea to the world and our life ,and this is a critical condition to the neo- rural migrant workers to smoothly finish the resocialization. The author further believed that group of this kind of the neo- rural migrant workers will unceasingly expand. Therefore, it is no doubt that the social security system of rural migrant workers will be greatly challenged.
