As the core of the whole system of economy of a country, finance is a media, through which all the economic activities in the modern society are connected. It is closely related to people from all walks of life. However, finance is also an industry full of risks, which is, of course, inevitable and won't be eliminated by itself. Thus the only way out would be to strengthen effectively the supervision and control over itAs far as our country is concerned, six years has pasted since we first joined the WTO, and the competition and risks facing our financial institutions have become ever more fierce. How should we take measures to avoid the risks and insure the safe and stable operation of our finance industry? This is a challenge to our financial institutions and the supervisors as well.Since the 1990s, the world financial environment has changed greatly. With the development of the Financial Liberalization, Financial Globalization and Financial Innovation, the diversification of Financial Management has become the trend of the world financial industry. But we still have the divided supervision system at home, one that is, obviously, full of defects and can't keep pace with the current ever-changing financial situations. So this thesis is aimed to pin down the drawbacks of our modern legal system on Financial Supervision, use for reference the successful experience of the developed countries and improve ourselves, so as to supply better service to the whole economy.The thesis includes four chapters:Chapter I: a brief introduction on the basic theories of Financial Supervision, such as its concept, objectives and main principles, then an analysis of the necessity of the financial supervision is followed.Chapter II: the introduction of two typical modes of financial supervision—the British mode and the American one, and men the summary of the successful experience we can learn.Chapter III: an introduction on the current situation of our financial supervision, and then a survey of the deficiency of it Chapter IV: with the successful experience of developed countries as a guideline and the deficiency of our system in mind, preliminary suggestions are made from different aspects to improve our supervision system.In conclusion, an effective supervision system is an organic whole of different sides. Not only the supervisors need to improve themselves, but also the financial departments should practice good self-control. Meanwhile, the perfect legal system will be a constant drive to the advance of the financial supervision to a beautiful future.
